EVENT VENUES FOR EVERY BUDGET

Part of a meeting planner’s job is to select event venues for his or her group. The event venues that we are reviewing here are for the social component of a meeting or event. After a long day of meetings, seminars etc. it’s nice to be able to take the delegates out for a little socializing.

Venues come in all shapes and sizes. And budgets. Event and party venues range from restaurants to historic properties and museums. When my company did full-service event planning, one of my goals was to always provide a venue option that would give the group an experience, or activity, that they would not be able to do on their own.

Event Venues and Budgets

Naturally the type of event venue that is proposed to a group depends on that group’s budget. If a planner only has $50 per person to spend, presenting a museum as a venue would not be a suitable option. However a private room in a restaurant would be better suited to the budget.

Different Types of Event Venues

Part of the reason that I’m a proponent of disclosing a budget is that knowing a budget better enables an event planner to match an appropriate venue to the group’s budget. Without knowing the budget, a proposal can be all over the map and very confusing for the meeting planner or decision-maker.

Event Venues Suitable for Lower Budgets:

  • Banquet and Party Halls
  • Bar/Nightclub
  • Boat Cruise
  • Restaurants

These venues are suitable for lower budgets because they have existing kitchens. Working with a venue that has a kitchen will greatly reduce the overall cost.

Event Venues Suitable for Mid Budgets:

  • Attractions
  • Golf Courses
  • Wineries

These mid-budget venues can save on decorating/decor costs. The venues themselves provide the background ambience. There’s no need to spend additional money on decor.

Event Venues for Larger Budgets:

  • Historic Properties
  • Museums/Galleries

Higher costs are associated with these event venues as they do not have kitchen facilities. Therefore the caterers must bring all of the equipment required for the event. That alone can cost as much as the food portion of the budget, or more. But these higher-end venues provide excellent locale as they often showcase their cities.

Additional Resources for Event Venues:

Event venues are an integral part of meetings and events. After a long working day, a meeting planner will want to take his or her group out for a social evening to unwind and network. Choosing the right venue for the group is very much dependent on the group’s budget. But don’t despair, there is a venue for every budget.
