Ever wonder if your job landed on the list of most stressful jobs in 2014? Or maybe on the list of least stressful jobs in 2014 for that matter? Let’s be honest each job comes with their own kind of challenges and stress. But some jobs do come with a bit more stress than others. In a report from CareerCast it proves there are indeed some very stressful jobs out there. CareerCast, a great job site, shared their list of some of the more stressful jobs as well as some of the less stressful jobs too.
If I asked; does your job include stress? There isn’t anyone that wouldn’t agree wholeheartedly. The majority of us, no matter what we do, feel we have a job filled with lots of things but definitely stress. But what makes a job stressful and what jobs are we talking about? Thanks to CareerCast, they did the research, so we now have the answers.
CareerCast’s Least and Most Stressful Jobs List
To come up with the list, CareerCast analyzed two hundred occupations. Centering on eleven job requirements: “Amount of travel, growth potential, deadlines, working in the public eye, competitiveness within the workplace, physical demands, environmental conditions, how often your life is at risk, how often other lives are at risk, hazards and contact with the public.” And the results created the latest and greatest list of the ten most stressful jobs as well as the ten least stressful jobs. So does your job land on either of these lists?
Top Ten Stressful Jobs, Is Yours Here?
The list of most stressful jobs include everything from airport pilot to firefighter, from taxi driver to military but the one that really stuck out was event coordinator. Lucky for me, I have never had to risk my life for a job. To date I haven’t had to fight in the military, combat fires, pilot a plane but event coordinator is definitely on my resume. And while I do find the position of event coordinator a stress filled one and what job isn’t, I was surprised to see it on the list. Comparing the stress a position like police officer entails to one of say a PR executive or yes event coordinator made me scratch my head. And then encouraged me to look further. Here is the list of the top ten most stressful jobs in 2014 along with the average salary:
