July 4th Independence Day is fast approaching. So to get into celebrating America\u2019s birthday here are some fun facts about this country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 men from 13 colonies.
\u2022 Independence Day was first celebrated on July 8th, 1776 in Philadelphia.
\u2022 The flag was embraced on June 14th, 1777.
\u2022 In 1941 July 4th became a national holiday.
\u2022 The youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence was Thomas Lynch, Jr. at 27. The oldest signer was Benjamin Franklin at 70.
\u2022 The only person to sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4th was John Hancock.
\u2022 Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, three US presidents have passed on July 4th. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson expired on July 4th, 1826. And James Monroe died July 4th, 1831.
\u2022 In 1801 the first July 4th party was hosted at the White House.
\u2022 Over 75 million Americans are planning a BBQ on this Independence Day. Americans will consume over 700 million pounds of chicken and over 150 million hot dogs.
\u2022 July 4th is a big day for fireworks. While they were invented in China. We import over $250 million in fireworks.
\u2022 On July 4th, 1776 there were an estimated 2.5 million people residing in the Unites States (presently there are over 309 million).
\u2022 There are eleven locals in the United States with the word \u201cIndependence\u201d in their name. And nine with the word \u201cfreedom\u201d in their name.
\u2022 At first, the stars on the flag were set in a circle. Symbolizing that all the colonies are equal.
\u2022 Born in 1872 Calvin Coolidge is the one and only US president born on July 4th.
\u2022 Over 41 million Americans will spend the holiday at someone else\u2019s home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
