In celebration of National Recycling Week (November 10-16, 2014) we thought we would focus on green meetings and, in particular, the meetings and events industry’s sustainability efforts. While many companies have not achieved their goals of environmental sustainability, it is nice to see that our industry is making positive strides towards its green meeting goals.

From @oregancc we learn that someone has a new roof. And not just any roof. The Oregon Convention Center in Portland, already a LEEDs platinum certified building, has replaced its roof with a new reflective material. And the convention center also plans to install solar panels next spring.
@spelletier highlights a post on Event Manager Blog on 7 steps to curb food waste at events.
@PlanYrMeetings features a green venue report which reviewed convention centers sustainability efforts. While only 16 convention centers participated in the report there are some positive findings. Definitely worth a read.

Green meetings are becoming commonplace.
