Thanksgiving is here. Yep you read it right and I for one find it shocking. Shocking that time has flown by so fast. Weren’t we all just anticipating the Labor Day weekend? And rejoicing at getting an extra day off while excited about getting the kids back to school. Before you know it, poof it’s November and Thanksgiving is literally just around the corner.
Thanksgiving and How it all Started!
Wondering how it all began, just ask History.com: “In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.”
Thanksgiving Turkey, Stuffing and Thanks, Oh My!
While the holidays are a busy time of year. My family loves, loves, loves Thanksgiving. Traditionally Thanksgiving Day is perfect to spend with friends and family enjoying each other and a delicious meal. Customarily this day is a time for us to give thanks for all we have. And not always but more often that delicious meal includes turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, veggies and yes the always anticipated pumpkin pie. The food is always outstanding and of course my family loves to eat but really the company out does the food each and every year.
Time to enjoy a bit of Thanksgiving in a song with thanks to American Greetings.
