Dave is working on a proposal creation platform designed specifically for event planners. Perfect Event Proposals focuses solely on minimizing the time it takes to respond to RFP’s & create professionally designed, multimedia proposals and win more clients.
We reached out to Dave and asked him to share some information about his exciting project, Perfect Event Proposals.
MasterTheEvent (MTE): Dave can you give us an overview of your background?
Dave Ferguson (DF): I grew up in England, just outside London, and recently moved to the USA as I’m married to an awesome American guy I met in Tokyo 10 years ago. I’ve been a serial entrepreneur for the last 6 years and have successfully brought to market physical products in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. I worked in the events industry 10 years ago then moved to Japan and left the industry. In January of this year I started focusing on finding ways to save event planners time and have been working full-time since then on this current project.
MTE: Can You briefly describe how Perfect Event Proposals works?
DF: It allows planners to quickly and easily create, manage and track multimedia proposals and RFP responses that win more clients.
MTE: What benefits do planners get from using Perfect Event Proposals?

MTE: What was it that made you determine that there was a need for streamlining the RFP process within the meetings and events industry?
DF: I knew from past businesses that I really needed to find out what the big pains and problems are that event planners face. So I decided to start calling them. Over the last 7 months I have interviewed over 150 event planners and now have a great understanding of what their big frustrations are. Planners are sometimes spending 20, 30, 40 hours plus just writing and formatting just one proposal. This is a huge drain on their time and costs their companies a significant amount of money.
98% of planners I interviewed still use Word, Powerpoint or Pages for their proposals but are so used to this they don’t even realize that there could be a better way. Why spend hours trying to create a well-designed document on a platform that is not meant for design work.
I knew that I could create a lot of value in this area for planners by saving them a ton of time and bringing their proposals into the 21st century. Every planners want to stand out as there is so much competition. What better way than to send a potential client a web-based proposal with video or a slideshow and then track what they spend their time looking at. Even if you don’t win the job you’ll at least get some feedback for next time.
MTE: You’ve been conducting a fair amount of interviews with professionals in the industry. Have there been any revelations, as a result of these interviews, that have made you change direction for Perfect Event Proposals?
DF: Definitely, I have spoken to quite a few in-house planners who review proposals and decide on the best ones to move forward with. I quizzed them on what they look for and was astounded to find out that it’s not budget that they are most interested in, rather it’s how creative, professional and polished the proposal looks. This shocked me and made me realize that Perfect Event Proposals must allow planners to easily create proposals that wow the client.
MTE: What are some of the biggest challenges you face?
DF: Most planners are so used to their current time consuming process that they aren’t even aware that they are wasting 100’s of hours and tens of thousands of dollars every year, in some cases every month. It’s also been a challenge to find the planners that are forward thinking enough to want to try something new.
MTE: And, how have you addressed those challenges?
DF: Sheer perseverance and determination. I know that I have something that is going to create a huge amount of value for planners, save them time and revolutionize proposal creating and management in the events industry.
MTE: When will we see the results of your efforts?
DF: We are currently developing and taking on Early Access Members until 14th October. Our Early Access Program is for forward thinking planners, who want to start using the platform before it is released. I will work closely with these planners and customize the platform to their needs before we launch early next year.
