This week KLM Royal Dutch Airlines released online a most enjoyable and effective airline commercial. Or did they? I appreciate a good airline video just like the next guy. When an airline has sixty seconds or so to sell you on why their product or service is the best. They tug at your heart, appeal to your logic or remind you what really is important.
This week it was KLM Royal Dutch Airlines turn. They made public a video commercial starring an adorable beagle named Sherlock. Right there and then I was hooked. As the commercial unfolds its Sherlock’s responsibility to make his way through the airport to return left behind items to the passengers that forgot them. Come on who doesn’t love a sweet sniffing dog being all adorable while performing an impressive task. In the commercial, KLM top dogs (get it) said that there is no other pup that can do what Sherlock can. All together now… aahhhhhhhhhh.
So did you fall for it? Even for a second?
A Great Airline Commercial…The Truth!
Who could blame us for wanting this endearing ad to be real? But sadly for all of us, Sherlock is not on KLM’s payroll in the position of “Finder”. He was only hired for the commercial. The advertising agency responsible for the commercial disclosed that this time it was all about marketing and not a real service the airline provides.
Get ready to smile along with the over 9 million others that have had a look at Sherlock doing his thing.
