Dressing up in Halloween costumes isn’t just for us humans any more. Pets are now getting into the game. Dressing your pet up in a Halloween costume has become big business. The National Retail Federation (NRF) states Americans will spend over 350 million dollars on pet Halloween costumes in 2014. And that’s up 30 million dollars from 2013. Big buckaroos are being shelled out just on cat and dog Halloween costumes and accessories. Not candy and not decorations, just on a costume that Grover will try time and time again to remove throughout the night. And per the National Retail Federation around 23 million of us will participate in the fun and frustration of including our pets in Halloween.
Pet owners now indulge their animals just like their kids. And with 2/3’s of us owners dressing up our cat or dog proves the humans do enjoy the experience somewhat more than their furry friends. According to the NRF, some of leading costumes for our pets this year include a hot dog, bumble bee, pumpkin and cat. And pet owners do love putting their cats and dogs into adorable and scary costumes. What they don’t realize is sometimes the pets aren’t as crazy about it as they are.
