3 Party Planning Tips That Allow You To Have Fun

Of course when you plan a party your main goal is that everyone that you’ve invited has a good time. Planning parties does take a bit of initiative on your part. The goal with party planning is that you want to make sure you get as much done ahead of time. There’s a few reasons why taking the time to plan for your party is important. The main reason of course is that you want to make sure you get everything done for the party that you need to. Other reasons for planning ahead should also take into account your time during the party. No doubt you will be required to perform duties during the party but there’s also no reason that you can’t joy yourself as well.

I’ve prepared three quick party planning tips that will help ensure that you have more time to mingle with your guest. Of course there are lot more elements that would go into planning a party but by following these three pieces of advice you’ll be well on your way to being organized and even having a moment to relax with your guests.

Party Planning Tip #1 – The Food

Your food offerings very much depend on the style of party that your hosting. For this post we’re assuming that you’ll be preparing the food yourself or, at the very least, it’s safe to say that you won’t have a caterer preparing the food for you. Today we’re quite lucky that our local grocery stores have a variety of hors d’oeuvres and party snacks readily available. The goal with your food is to select items which you can prepare ahead of time. In other words you don’t want to spend a lot of time creating while your party is going on. Nothing wrong with picking food items that require you to warm them up in the oven.  A lot of your food offerings that you select should be prepared the night before or even a couple of days before the party.

Party Planning Tip #2 – The Beverages

This is an area where you can easily low your budget. Of course with any party planning you want to make sure you have a nice selection of beverages available. Including a good selection of nonalcoholic beverages. Rather than preparing drinks for your guests why not consider setting up a self-serve area.  Consider a self-serve bar in an area where you can easily observe its activities. In other words keep a watchful eye on your guests to make sure that nobody is getting out of hand. Today liability laws often rule that the hosts can be responsible if a guest is over-served. Make sure you tell your guests that you want them to have a good time but they also have to respect your wishes by not driving if they’ve had a few too many. If possible offer taxi chips or have the telephone number readily available for your guests to call.

Party Planning Tip #3 – The Music

Music sets the mood at parties. I’ve been to several parties where the music didn’t quite match the mood of the event and it became uncomfortable. Obviously if you’re hosting a party then you have an idea of what your guests like. Don’t assume that your guests will like all of your music. A good mix of music is a safe bet. Select music from the era that most of your guests are from. Nothing wrong with sprinkling in some current or dance music if it’s appropriate as well. For time-saving, do a playlist ahead of time that features a good variety of music. Make your playlist at least 3 to 4 hours long. Then during your party you simply have to initiate your playlist and you’re good to go. Doing this ahead of time will save you from selecting music during your party.

Party planning does not have to be a daunting task. You’re having a party for reason so why not have fun planning it. So have fun planning your party and take the time before hand to cover the basics. Doing so will allow you to have some free time at your party so that you can have fun too.
