Service standards, or I should say proper service standards, are becoming harder and harder to find nowadays. While it seems that event planning companies are becoming very good at marketing themselves, many fail when it comes time to implement service standards. When we talk to several event planning companies, one of the main things they said that brought return business was their service standards. Most people would tend to think that pricing would be the top item to bring repeat business. While pricing is an important factor, top event planning companies tend to focus more on their service standards as their priority.
Top Event Planning Companies Are Ethical
Pricing does come into play for many customers. But, as stated above, many customers are willing to pay a fair price if they are getting the service levels that they expect. For this category we turned to a few meeting planners. Along with service standards, trust and relationships ranked very high with these meeting planners. As a matter fact many meeting planners will pick the same company time and time again because they have developed a trust in their working relationship. That, in itself, is worth its weight in gold. If the event planning company has been deemed to be ethical by the planner, they are trusted when presented with pricing on their events. That’s not to say that meeting planners don’t question budgets or pricing itself. It’s just that with top event planning companies, meeting planners don’t think that they are being gouged by the pricing that they’re presented with.
Top Event Planning Companies Have a Long Client List
This item is a difficult one for new companies entering event planning. And developing a client list is just going to take time. Many meeting planners will ask their event planning company for references or a list of companies that they have worked with in the past. And nowadays is very common to see event planning companies list their clients in their marketing material or on their website itself. An good client list will leave an impression on a potential customer. If they recognize the companies, they’re starting to build trust in their potential relationship. But I still suggest that meeting planners do check references and talk to previous customers just to see how they handled certain situations that may arise.
Top event planning companies have achieved their status for a reason. They take their business very serious and they consider a potential customer as someone that they would like to establish a long term relationship with.
