It’s that time of year when a Christmas miracle is welcomed with open arms. And if you’re looking for said Christmas miracle look no further than WestJet. Since 2012 WestJet, the Calgary located airline has been creating some of the best Christmas miracles this side of the North Pole.
Starting in 2012, WestJet surprised passengers flying to Toronto from Calgary with a holiday flash mob. Complete with a blue Santa, Mrs. Claus, dancing and singing elves, decorations and WestJet’s very own Christmas magic. The following year in 2013, WestJet shocked and amazed passengers flying from the Toronto airport. When they landed in Calgary they were gifted with the gifts they wished for before leaving Toronto. The look on their faces when the gifts came rolling in was exactly as you imagine priceless. And last year in 2014 WestJet helped an entire town in the Dominican Republic. A town that was in need of, you guessed it, a Christmas miracle. They provided everything from gifts to decorations, food to fun and then in a big surprise to everyone a safe and beautiful playground, near school to be enjoyed by all.
Drum Roll Please … 2015 WestJet Christmas Miracle
This year the WestJet plan was all about continuing the fun and joy of the holiday season. By making miracles, 12,000 mini miracles that is, based on acts of kindness and generosity. In early December WestJet released their latest and greatest Christmas Miracle video. Where they surprised thousands and thousands of WestJet passengers worldwide with all kinds of acts of kindness. Within a 24 hour stretch WestJet people took time out of their busy lives to create some Christmas magic. And while the original plan was to grant 12,000 miracles, this year they outdid themselves by awarding an amazing 32,000 acts of thoughtfulness.
Grab Some Eggnog and Enjoy a Christmas Miracle or More
It would take forever to list the many thoughtful gestures that were accomplished in the name of WestJet and a Christmas miracle. They include everything from trips to plane tickets, toys to warm blankets, groceries to theater tickets and everything else you can think of. They reached out to help and surprise so many and got the rest of us into the holiday spirit.
“We are humbled and amazed at the outpouring of response to the mini miracles initiative. Our expectations were absolutely shattered,” said Richard Bartrem, WestJet Vice-President, Marketing Communications. “The video illustrates how the day played out. It brings to life the human connection and joy that WestJetters spread from coast to coast and around the world.”
So grab some eggnog and get inspired.
I think we can all agree that WestJet does an excellent job at creating Christmas Miracles. And while the cynical side of us may think it’s all about marketing. The heartfelt part of us must acknowledge that no matter the reason, WestJet goes a long way to make a difference in people’s lives. And who amongst us wouldn’t welcome some good cheer this time of year. Happy Holidays everyone!
