On the shores of Lake Erie, on the Canadian side, there’s a little town called Port Dover. Now, if you’re like me, you probably haven’t heard of Port Dover. Unless you happen to own a bike – a motorbike that is. You see every Friday the 13th an event unfolds in Port Dover. Rain or shine, winter or summer. It’s party planning like you’ve never seen before. It’s a crowd of bikers and biker enthusiasts.
And it’s no small crowd.
Normally you would think the town would become nervous when thousands and thousands of bikers descend on their town. Not Port Dover! This Friday the 13th party event is welcomed by the townspeople, the police and the mayor alike.
Friday the 13th in Port Dover: How the Event Began
The Friday the 13th event in Port Dover started back in 1971. It all began when a few friends decided to have a little get together in Port Dover on a Friday the 13th in November of that year. That little event was so much fun that they decided it would be a good idea to do it every Friday the 13th. A tradition was born. It’s now become a sort of pilgrimage. Every Friday the 13th, bikers and enthusiasts alike will make their way to Port Dover for a day of fun filled events.
