beagle dog with a birthday hatLooking for unique birthday party ideas for a unique birthday party? Planning a doggy birthday party isn’t unlike planning a human birthday party.

The Humane Society of the United States estimates that there are approximately 78.2 million dogs in the country and about 39% of all homes have at least one dog. And with the average home spending more on their pets than ever before, pet owners are going above and beyond just a squeaky toy and a comfy bed.

For many (myself included) an animal is more than just a pet; they’re part of the family. We spend more time with them than with most of our family members and they love us unconditionally. So for many “pet parents” a doggy birthday party seems like natural way to celebrate that special pooch in our lives.

Unique Birthday Party Ideas – A Dog-Gone Good Idea

Some people may scoff when they read this blog. But smallbiztrends.com states that pet owners (or pet parents as some like to be called) will continue to spend on their animals. And while the no business is recession proof, the pet industry is considered recession resistant with owners still spending on their pets (or fur babies as some like to call them). And with owners spending on average of 10 billion dollars a year, that’s nothing to bark at.

Unique Birthday Party Ideas – Are You Ready for a Dog-Gone Good Time?

As been said, planning a doggy birthday party isn’t unlike planning a human birthday party. You have to come up with an invitation, a guest list, refreshments, activities and loot bags. It’s just the details that differ a bit. But with a little creativity and your web browser, you too can plan a great canine celebration.

Unique Birthday Party Ideas – Getting Past the Dogma

So you’ve decided to celebrate Fido’s birthday but you’re worried about what your family and friends may think. Well, don’t! Doggy birthday parties are a lot more common than you may think. Since you’re feting Fido, you should invite like minded people to celebrate with. If you frequent your local dog park, your precious pooch has a list of doggy friends, probably more than the average human.

So take Aunt Ethel, who doesn’t understand the bond you and your pet have, off of the guest list. She’s not going to mind being excluded. Look around at those who share your puppy love and include them.

There are tons of web sites out there to help you plan your puppy party. A web search will help you find some dog-gone good sites that will help you plan a party that will have everyone’s tail wagging!
