If you’ve ever attended an industry trade show then you’ve probably noticed the variety of trade show displays. In the meetings and events industry, trade shows play a vital role. It’s an opportunity for vendors and suppliers to meet potential clients. It’s important for  vendors to represent their companies in a professional manner. I have participated in many trade shows. In fact, a few years back, we launched my company’s online directory at an MPI trade show. The reason we picked an industry trade show was because our target market, meeting planners, were the ones attending the event. And, might I add, it worked perfectly.

Participating in a trade show is not cheap. On top of the trade show booth displays, there are rental and basic set up fees, AV cost and Wi-Fi charges.

Types of Trade Show Displays

Which display is the right for you depends on a number of factors. Is it part of your company’s overall marketing plan to attend trade shows? Do you receive a considerable amount of leads, that have the potential to turn into viable sales, at trade shows? Or, are you attending an industry show to keep your company’s name front and center? The answer to those questions will determine what your needs are. In other words, how much you will need to invest in your trade show set up and display.

Here are the most common tradeshow displays:

Pipe and Drape. A very basic tradeshow booth setup. Most of the time this is ordered through the show organizer. The pipe and drape is often used as a backdrop for additional display pieces.

Table Covers. These can be standard trades how linens (to cover the 6 foot table in the booth). Some companies invest in customize table covers that can be used over and over again.

Pop-Up Displays. Very portable and easy to install, pop-up displays add a professional touch to your tradeshow booth.

Banner Stands. Lightweight and easy to travel with, banner stands are assembled in a matter of minutes. These are the most common types of displays as they are inexpensive and interchangeable.

Modular Displays. For those that attend a lot of tradeshows, modular displays are a good investment. Once unpacked, it’s very easy to add logos and visual displays. Parts of the modular displays can also act as tabletops for placing company literature and promo pieces.

Depending on your objectives, your display will communicate to your potential clients what it is your company is offering. After all, you only have a few seconds to make that first impression. Make it a lasting one.
