How the Winners for World’s Best Airports were Calculated
Fourteen years ago, Skytrax, a privately owned research company in the United Kingdom, founded the airline rating system, “a professional airline quality rating classification”. And now known universally as the airline standard for quality and excellence. Recently in Geneva at the Passenger Terminal EXPO, Skytrax held the 2013 World Airport Awards ceremony, to showcase and award the world’s best airports. The Passenger Terminal EXPO is the leading Airport Terminal Exhibition and Conference.
Over a nine month period, more than twelve million air travelers from over 160 countries participated in an independent customer survey, assessing their airport traveling experiences including arrivals, departures and everything else in between. The survey, the world’s largest, included over 395 airports and 39 various airport products and services.
The Results are IN for the World’s Best Airports – One, Two and Three!
Coming in at number one in the global rankings, in the top spot and voted as the world’s best airport, drum roll please… is the Singapore Changi Airport. This is the fourth time this airport has received this very impressive accolade. And this facility has placed within the top three every year since the awards begun.
Taking second place in the global rankings is the former first place winner, Incheon International Airport. They also scored first place rankings and received the award for Best International Transfer Airport for the second time in four years and Best Airport Staff Service – Asia for the third time since this award launched four years ago.
Beating last year’s third place finisher for the first time in twelve years, this year’s number three is the always awesome and impressive Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This property also maintained the Best Airport in Western Europe and Best Airport in Europe awards for another year.
