For a meeting and event planner, travel safety is the number one priority in event planning. There’s no doubt that we now live in a world where safety is, or has become, a concern when traveling abroad. And in the world of event planning, it’s always one of the first components of the program that gets addressed. Safety 1st should be at the top of a meeting planner’s checklist.

Of course there’s a fine line between highlighting corporate travel safety and making corporate travelers feel uncomfortable, or unsafe as it were. So of course when the topic of travel safety arises, it’s important that it gets addressed seriously without making people panic. If you’re like me, you don’t pay too much attention but you do check out the nearest emergency exit etc. Then, hopefully, you don’t have to think about it again.

With travel safety you need to strike the right balance between awareness and overreacting. Meeting planners want their delegates to pay attention to safety tips. While at the same time they don’t want safety to become a distraction to the meeting. After all, a big part of a meeting or event should be the education and memorable fun events. And if everybody just makes sure that they are aware of their surroundings, they will all return home with nothing but pleasant memories.
