This 4th of July, America will be celebrating its 237th year as an independent nation. On July 4, 1776, what was then known as the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. This set the path for the 13 colonies to become a sovereign nation.

Nowadays the 4th of July, otherwise known as Independence Day, is marked by celebrations across the nation. The US sells more fireworks around Independence Day than any other holiday throughout the year.
