With all that is involved with planning events, it’s not lost on me that lighting is the thing that sets me off.
Every event has a bucket full of moving parts. And every planner I know needs to and wants to have their hand in it all. You name it. I feel like I can conquer it. But I realized I usually rely on my suppliers for their advice on proper event lighting. Whether I’m looking at outdoor event lighting or elegant event lighting, I would just go whatever was suggested. And most times it was the right decision and it all worked out. But I wanted to feel comfortable and confident in all my event choices. I decided it was time to conquer my fear. I made the decision to spread the love and work with several organizations over the course of a year. And during the process I promised myself I would push away the intimidation and ask questions, lots of questions. In the end I wouldn’t call myself an expert but I do think I learned a lot.
