When flying, how often do you watch the inflight safety video? If you’re like me or the majority of flyers the answer is not that often. Well we’ve come a long way and times are a changing. Virgin Airlines has come out with an enjoyable and entertaining inflight safety video and it’s beyond expectations. And as Chuckles the Clown would say it has: a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer in your pants. Of course, minus the seltzer in your pants part but the dancing and singing part are definitely there.
Now You’ll Want to Pay Attention to the Virgin Airlines Safety Video!
In the past airlines have used all sorts of methods to get the flyer to actually watch the safety video but to no avail. I have a feeling that’s about to change. Jesse McMilim, the Creative Director at Virgin America said in a statement “We knew how much our guests loved the fun and irreverence of our current video, but after six years we wanted to give them something unexpected – a fresh take on what a safety video could be and even a chance to be a part of it, literally”.
This past Tuesday Virgin Airlines released their latest and greatest inflight safety video. It is some of the most enjoyable five minutes you will spend on a plane, any plane. And it looks like Virgin Airlines decided to do whatever it took to entertain as well as inform its flyers. Produced by famed director John Chu known for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and the Step It Up movies. And teeming with lots of talented musicians, dancers and choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol, they definitely are getting the message out.

Are you finding it hard to believe that a safety video can be all that and a bag of chips? Well get ready to snap your fingers and tap your toes.
And how smart are the powers that be at Virgin Airlines? Not only by creating an outstanding and entertaining safely video but then turning it into an amazing Instagram contest. Sounds like a marketer’s dream to me. And when that inflight safety video starts playing on planes in November, the contest winner will be seen in all their glory!
