For this week’s podcast Randy, Andrew and Sean welcome Taylor Erdie, a second-year event planning student at Humber College in Toronto Canada. Taylor talks about her upcoming internship, with a wedding and event planning company, and explains how she got this internship. Taylor also talks about her expectations for her second year as an event planning student.
Andrew asks Taylor to tell the audience when it was that she realized that event planning was for her. Taylor explains that she knew it was in her blood when she found herself wanting to plan friends’ social events. She also took charge of planning and implementing all of the prom activities for her group of high school friends. That’s certainly one way to know if the industry is in your blood or not.
Listen in as Taylor offers tips and advice to aspiring event planners on getting good internships and what’s needed to stand out in a crowded field. It’s apparent from this discussion that Taylor has certainly found the right industry. She is not afraid of all the hard work that this industry demands.
Taylor also reviewed an event from this past summer called RetroFest in her home town of Chatham Ontario Canada. Not one to sit on the sidelines, Taylor took to the streets to ask participants and attendees their overall impression of the festival.
Taylor has also written a couple of guest blogs for MasterTheEvent.com. In her first post Taylor describes how, and why, she chose event planning. In her second post she outlined the RetroFest event and how it was executed successfully with positive feedback from the attendees.
Seems like you have developed an excellent plan…
Enjoy the internship…
