Super Bowl is just around the corner and with two great teams playing; it’s all about throwing the greatest Super Bowl party. Mark your calendar Sunday, February 7th, all eyes will be on Super Bowl. Maybe you watch for the game or for the commercials or for the half time entertainment, whatever the reason, yearly the Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event.

A Super Bowl party is one of the easiest and most laid back parties to plan. And when it comes to party planning Super Bowl or not I am a big proponent of a plan. Creating a Super Bowl plan will help you to stay focused and get things accomplished in a timely manner. Because none of us want to be that person running around crazed at the last minute trying to get it all done.
Getting Started on a Super Bowl Sunday Game Plan
Invites – Make your list and check it twice, call, email or even mail but be sure to allow enough time for the invites to get to their destination. The invitation rule is to invite twenty percent more guests then you can accommodates as only about 75% will be able to show up.
Party Space and Seating – Do the regular stuff you do to get your home ready for a party; clean and tidy up and if needed move things around and reorganize the room. Ensure there is lots of available seating so guests are comfortable and have a view of the TV. And know there is nothing wrong with letting guests know it’s a BYOC (bring your own chair) kind of Super Bowl party.
TV – We can’t all go out and buy the best of the best when it comes to TV viewing and the Super Bowl. Having said that, remember the whole point of the party is the Super Bowl so ensure the TV can be seen from all points of the room. The ultimate goal is to ensure no one will miss a thing during the big game, whether it be the half time show, the commercials or the actual football playing. Make a plan and do whatever it takes to provide as much viewing opportunities as possible.
Decorations – When it comes to Super Bowl and decorations it won’t take that many supplies, dollars or even elbow grease to set the mood. This party comes with a built in theme so it makes no difference if you are a DYI’er or prefer the assistance of a retail outlet, either way you will be able to set the tone. Head on-line, out to the dollar store or your favorite party retailer and stock up on lots of football themed supplies. This time of year you can find all kinds of football themed items without breaking a sweat or the bank.
Food – Whether you’re into the game or not, you don’t want to spend all your time in the kitchen. First and foremost Super Bowl food should be easy to make and easy to eat. This party is all about grazing, snacking and nibbling and a set-up that lets guests easily enjoy during the game. So set up a delicious spread of munchies and finger foods that you know will be sure to please your crowd. And make certain to have lots of food and snacks on hand…it’s a football game after all.
Beverages – Super Bowl Sunday is all about the game, food and you guessed it drinks. And really what’s a Super Bowl bash without a drink or two? So ensure you have enough to accommodate everyone’s taste. You can’t go wrong if you stock up on a nice variety of beverages including cold beer and liquor. And remember don’t leave out the non-drinking guests, be sure you stock up on an assortment of non-alcoholic choices so no one is left out. And while we’re talking bevvies remember to buy ice, a must have for any Super Bowl Party. Always buy way more than you think you’ll need, it goes fast and no one wants to have to do an ice run in the middle of the game.
Party Supplies – Whether you theme your soiree or not, load up on all the party supplies you will need for a successful Super Bowl party. The obvious includes bottle openers, serving platters, plates, bowls, cutlery and glasses. And you’ll definitely need lots and lots of napkins, most likely you’ll need way more than you think. There are oodles of economical items, themed and not available to spice up your party.
