While extremely important, getting ready for an interview isn’t all about looking good. When it comes to gearing up for an event planning interview, it’s likely you will have to prove you can do it all. Not only the creative and innovative parts but the logistical undertakings as well. First and foremost you want to ensure that you are prepared. So plan for your interview. Do the research. Use the internet. Look into the organization and visit their website. Tap into Google and social media. Become one with your resume and be ready to answer questions about it. Prepare potential questions that could be asked by the interviewer. And most importantly practice, practice, practice.

The International Institute of Event Management says, the top three interview questions every event planner must be ready for are: Tell us why you’re the best candidate for this job? Why do you want to work for us? What would you like to learn about our company and this job?

As you get ready for the interview don’t forget to look at past events you have planned. How you have had to solve unforeseen problems. Dealt with challenging clients. Made budgets work. Keep in mind events that have ended spectacularly. And ones that haven’t been quite as successful. By doing this you are helping yourself when it comes time for the interview.
