Whether I am being interviewed for a job or happen to be the interviewer, one thing I know for sure, job interviews are on
my list of least favorite things to do. And it has nothing to do with it being a tough climate out there when it comes to looking for work. Yes the job search is one thing but the job interviewing process is absolutely another. And when it does come to job interviews, first impressions really do matter. Surprisingly that first impression can influence the rest of the interview. Some even say those first minutes are the most significant when it comes to job interviews. During those initial moments a potential hire is evaluated and scrutinized without even realizing it. How are you dressed, what is your personality like, how do you present yourself, what is your overall impression, it all matters.
Job Interviews – The Right Candidate, Just Ask Guy!
When trying to project that WOW factor and with so many contenders all vying for the same role what’s an applicant to do?
Just ask Guy Luchting, one of 1,734 candidates that interviewed with Heineken for an event sponsorship internship. As seen in the video below, he proved he was just THE person they were looking for by way of his reactions to so many unusual circumstances. He seems to easily excel during the job interview process by keeping it cool when his hand was held by the interviewer, when it seemed the interviewer was having a heart attack as well as a couple of other curious scenarios. And as it turned out he was THE person for the job and as part of the position he got to represent the organization in London at the Champions League Match.
These days with so many hopefuls and not as many positions, organizations retain the upper hand with a plethora of experienced candidates to choose from. The question we always ask ourselves is how do we get and keep the advantage. And by way of the video I believe Guy Luchting showed us all how it’s done. And most importantly, always be you and when you do land that job you want you will definitely know.
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
